Holes Book Review

Holes by Louis Sachar

Louis Sachar is an American writer known for writing children’s books like Holes and the Wayside School series. He was born in 1954 in New York and later worked at an elementary school, which inspired many of his stories. He originally studied to become a lawyer before focusing on writing.

Holes by Louis Sachar is about a boy named Stanley who is sent to a desert camp where he has to dig holes every day. While he’s there, he starts to realize that the camp has a hidden purpose, and strange connections to the past start to appear.

I liked the characters Stanley and Zero. Stanley is interesting because he changes a lot throughout the story and becomes stronger and more confident. I also find Zero interesting because he did not talk much at first, but he turned out to be very smart and important to the story.

What I enjoyed about Holes is its mystery and characters and how everything connects in the end. Readers who like adventure, mystery, and plot twists would enjoy this story.

One thing I didn’t really like about Holes is that it sometimes switches between past and present, which made it a little confusing at first. The beginning also felt a bit slow, so it took a while before the story really became interesting.

I would recommend Holes because it is interesting and has a good mix of adventure and mystery. The story becomes more exciting as it goes on, and everything connects in a satisfying way. I would give it a rating of 8 out of 10 because it started out a bit slow, but it’s still enjoyable.
