Is It Beneficial to Own an Exotic Animal as a Pet?

Owning exotic animals as pets is seen as controversial and abusive due to their many complex needs. Others see it as a way of providing shelter and care for animals that are endangered, ensuring a safe home for them.

One of the advantages of owning exotic pets lies in the knowledge that owners are saving an endangered species. They can help raise awareness for many problems, like poaching. When people care about these animals that they own, they will start to become more interested in trying to save and protect animals’ natural habitats. This can help decrease endangerment rates for animals that are likely to be poached for their skin or other body parts.

However, many animals have specific needs and can be difficult to meet if they live in a home environment. This can lead to stress and health issues if they’re not cared for properly. Taking animals from their natural habitat can impact their populations, disrupt their ecosystem, and raise endangerment for the species.

Despite being seen as harmful and controversial, owning an exotic pet still has its benefits. For example, they can provide more educational opportunities and companionship for the owner. They can learn new things about the animal and can lead to a bigger understanding of the planet and how important of a role animals play in the world. In turn, the owner can help motivate others and help them feel empathy for animals

Many argue that most exotic animals that are owned as pets often involve illegal activities and unethical ways of getting them. Many animals are taken and sold from the wild illegally and can be smuggled across countries. Owners may not have the right knowledge or resources to give the right care for these animals, which can result in neglect and possibly even death.

I believe there are not many benefits to owning exotic animals as pets, as they may have been stripped away from their natural habitat and could be used for unethical, illegal purposes. They deserve to roam around and live freely in their rightful home, without any   disruption.
