Compare and Contrast Essay- Mountains or Beaches

Vacations, for some people, should be relaxing or getting to do what you want to do – unless you’re with your kids. Mountains and beaches are two of the most popular vacation spots and have some of the most enjoyable activities. In this essay, I will talk about the similarities and differences between mountains and beaches.

The first thing mountains and beaches have in common is that they’re both vacation spots. People who want to rest can probably go to these places.

The second thing mountains and beaches have in common is that they’re both found on land… partly for beaches. So when you travel to the mountains, you’re probably on the ground; while on the beach you’re still considered on land.

Mountains tend to have much wetter and colder climates than the neighboring land. You can find them anywhere. You can’t miss them. They’re tall, steeper than hills, and have sharp, high points. They’re ideal spots for parachuting, hiking, caving, camping, and watching the sunset from a hot air balloon. All these activities are good for energetic people who like peace, quiet, and nature.

On the other hand, beaches are warm and clear in the summer. You can find them in any direction because they’re at the edge of every land. Beaches are made of sand, tiny grains of rocks, and minerals. You can do many things at the beach, like boat riding, snorkeling, island hopping, and swimming. Or feel like a child and make sand castles.

Everyone has their say about their type of vacation experience. For example, some people who’re good at swimming, like seeing marine creatures, and don’t get sick on the boat are those who would probably want a beach trip. On the other hand, adventurous people, who enjoy being around nature and are most likely not afraid of heights, are those who will probably want a mountain experience.

Though the sea is my element, I’d rather go for the mountain because I have never climbed one before. I would enjoy the rides that give you the feeling that you’re flying, like zip-lining, even though I’m afraid of heights.
