Why Do We Have Day and Night?

Day and night are our morning and midnight systems. This  is a type of cycle from the solar system. But did you ever wonder why we have them?

How do day and night happen?

Even though you can’t feel it, the earth is orbiting around the sun. Once every twenty-four hours, Earth turns or rotates on its axis, taking all of us with it. When we are on the closer side to the sun, it is day but as the earth continues to spin and it is not facing the sun, it becomes nighttime.

What’s the cycle of day and night?

The cycle of day and night is called the diurnal/diel cycle. This cycle is any type of pattern that occurs every twenty-four hours as a result of one full spin of the earth.

How important are day and night?

Day and night help regulate our sleep-wake cycle. Exposure to the natural light during the day helps adjust to our everyday stuff. It means the day keeps us awake, while the night is for resting.

What would happen if the earth’s cycle of day and night disappeared?

If the earth’s cycle were to stop spinning, there would be a lot of changes. For example, a day would last half of a year and a night would last half of a year too. The earth could be warmed up too so snow can melt easily, which is very bad for polar bears in Antarctica. This would affect Earth’s climate too.
