Why Growing Numbers of People Shop Online

Since 2022 the global ecommerce has been steadily growing by a rate of about 8%. This number is expected to remain the same over the course of the next three years. However,.hy are most people switching to online shopping? Three reasons people shop online are for convenience, more products, and/or better deals.

It’s more convenient

Some people don’t have time to go to a store. Going to stores can be quite time consuming. In my experience, my mother has always told me she’d take a “quick trip” to our local grocery store, but that “quick trip” always lasted an hour. There are many time-consuming factors when going to a store. This includes the commute, the time it takes to find the product(s), the amount of staff present, and the number of other  customers being served.

Additionally, it’s easier to find products online. When going to a physical store, you need to go down aisles, look through shelves, or ask staff where you can find a specific product. Online shopping prevents this because you can just search for the product you’re looking for in the search bar and the page will automatically take you to the product.

A wider variety of products can be accessed

Consumers can find items from a certain store that may not be in its physical store. Imagine browsing a store and looking for a specific item only to find out it’s not in stock. Shopping online guarantees an item being in stock for a specific store.

Customers can find alternatives for products that you already use. When searching up a product, search engines give you multiple options for the same or similar products. It can show you options from a single store or from many different stores. This can help with objects like makeup where the effectiveness of a product varies from person to person.

Better prices or sales can be found

Coupon and sale apps, like Honey or Karma, can be downloaded. There are many apps or browser extensions that scan websites and provide you with coupon codes or make suggestions about other stores that have a sale. This ensures that you aren’t always paying full price for an item.

Additionally, viewing the same product in different stores is easier. When searching for a product online, it’s best to compare your options to find the best deal. For example, an  item you want costs $50.00 in one store. Unfortunately,, your budget is only$25.00. So you decide to look for that same item, but in a different store. Fortunately for you, the next store you look at has a sale that makes everything in the store 75% off. The price of that same item in the new store is $12.50 and the item is now within your budget.

This proves why people shop online because of convenience, more products, and/or better deals. Because of computers being more and more accessible by the day, people will most likely switch to online shopping.

Shopping online is definitely more convenient, and in the future it will eventually be the primary source of goods, and many other daily needs.
