three teen boys talking to each other because they are friends

The Three Values That Can Help You Find Friendship In School

Imagine you are getting ready for the new school year in another location. You will need to wake up earlier; find where your classroom is; and as time goes by, you will need to make new friends. Making friends can be difficult for some, but if you show generosity, empathy, and honesty to everyone, you will be able to find your people in no time.

GENEROSITY:

To make a good first impression, you have to act generously toward someone you’ve never met. Giving them what they need, like a school necessity or your time, will make them feel that you are reliable, and they may ask for your help again. You can start small by giving a spare pen to someone who ran out of ink, then later on stop by to help the same person carry a pile of books. Do this every day, and the people around you will think you’re reputable. In time, they might want to become friends with you.

EMPATHY:

To become a better friend, you will need to become empathic. Empathy means being able to understand a person’s point of view and displaying this can make you closer to them. This is evident when you know what your friends want/need based on how they are currently feeling. For example, if they tell you that they are currently struggling in algebra class, you can offer your free time and teach them according to their preferred learning style. Since you made the subject easier for them to figure out, your friend will thank you if they pass a test. You can always help them, but you also need to be honest about your feelings, which we will discuss in the next paragraph.

HONESTY:

Finally, to be understood by your friend, you have to be honest with them. Because if you are your friend, you can understand and trust you more. You can either get angry at them for continually spending money or you can tell them your personal problems. That way, they are eager to learn from you, or they can even return the favor.

Finding new people to hang out with could be hard for a few, but the three acts of kindness can make it easier. Generosity can make others like you, empathy can make people feel comfortable around you, and honesty can make others believe you. Of course, you wouldn’t immediately make new friends at school. But if you look forward to making better relationships, then people are going to be enthusiastic about befriending you. So that at the end of the school year, you remember the good times you’ve had with everyone.
