There are many different kinds of vets, each doing something unique. They are the equine-focused vet, the exotic animal vet, the small animal vet, and the emergency vet. We will discuss each one.
Equine-focused vet
The equine-focused vet takes care of horses so they can be safe and run. This kind of vet checks a horse’s gums to see if it has any problems. If the gums are purple or pale pink, something is wrong. Or if the horse keeps on rolling and seems as though it’s in pain, then that means something is wrong. The equine-focused vet takes care of other illnesses, too. For example, this vet checks if an Arabian horse needs its teeth filed down or if a Clydesdale has difficulty digesting its food.
Exotic animal vet
Exotic animal vets are the ones who take care of wild animals, like green iguanas, dangerous bears, and roaring lions. The large variety of exotic and sometimes endangered animals functions uniquely, like trying to rescue a reticulated giraffe. A reticulated giraffe is very different from an ordinary giraffe. A reticulated giraffe differs from other species in that white lines separate its brown patterns. In contrast, light, sandy brown lines separate the patterns of an average giraffe. Reticulated giraffes are endangered because they’re losing their habitat and are being hunted for their beautiful brown patterns. These gentle creatures need to be saved from harm. And that’s where the exotic animal vet comes in! He/She helps to protect the endangered species so that they will be wild and free.
Small animal vet
Small animal veterinarians take care of dogs, cats, and even birds! They are the ones who make sure our beloved pets are safe and well. When this veterinarian checks a dog, cat or bird, he/she tries to know what’s wrong with them. She checks their heartbeat like doctors do with humans, and she may use an X-ray if she finds out something is wrong inside. Sometimes, the X-ray isn’t clear with what’s inside an animal’s body, so they would use an ultrasound.
Emergency Vet
An emergency vet takes care of all animals in trouble. They can help animals with seizures, pain, and discomfort. They monitor their patients and diagnose them. Every minute counts to save a snake that got out of a zoo, a goat that’s having a hard time giving birth, or a cow with a problem in its stomach. You have to be quick to be there on time!
There are so many kinds of veterinarians! All of these vets take care of so many animals day and night. They all want to ensure that the animals they care for are safe and sound. Now that you know the different types of veterinarians, which do you like best?
