But first, let me introduce myself.
My name is Liberty Arriola-Baldovino. My inner circle fondly calls me “Mamu”, the youthful granny whose name has become synonymous to “content writing”.
But I didn’t become “top of mind” in the content writing industry right away.
Back when I was still actively teaching in a private school, I was a piano teacher for 17 years and an award-winning Journalism coach for 5 years.
Due to the increasing financial needs of my family, I had to look for ways to earn more.
So in 2012, I decided to apply for jobs online as a web content writer, even if I didn’t know anything about it.
Fortunately, content writing is a very in-demand job, so it was easy for me to get my first few gigs from Odesk (formerly Upwork) and other freelance job sites.
BUT…
I had to unlearn everything that I already knew about traditional writing, because web content writing is a whole ‘nother beast on its own.
It’s totally different from journalism, writing novels, writing poems, or anything that I have done before.
What made my situation even worse? Back in the day, I would earn a whopping 1$ per 300 words ! (Ouch!)
Because I was not writing fast enough, it would take me forever just to finish a few articles.
