Abstract art presents life non-realistically, while realism shows life realistically. The two styles have different ways of painting anything. This essay will compare and contrast the “Iriss, Tulips, Jonquils, and Crocuses Painting” and the Magnolia painting.

Colors and composition

The colors in the abstract painting resemble a rainbow, yet they are not arranged in a rainbow-like pattern. In addition to the primary colors of the rainbow, this painting has additional colors such as pink, teal, hot pink, bright yellow, etc. The abstract art composition demonstrates that it was painted with a majority of colors, giving spaces for all colors and making it look rocky.

The colors in the realistic painting are pinkish violet, white, green, and, most importantly, gray and black. Gray and black can alter light and shadow, giving it a three-dimensional look or depth. The Magnolia painting’s composition shows blended colors and is probably an exact duplicate of the original version.

Differences

The colors in the abstract art aren’t blended; however, the colors in the Magnolia painting are mostly blended. Abstract art features patterns, colors, texture, and lines, while realistic art duplicates nature, such as photography. The abstract art is rough and rocky, while the Magnolia painting is smooth.

Similarities

First of all, both paintings are multicolored. Also, both paintings have some colors in common, such as pink, white, green, and yellow.

Impact

The impact of the “Iriss, Tulips, Jonquils, and Crocuses Painting” can be viewed as a rainbow melting down. Even though the flowers in the painting are colored based on the rainbow, the color arrangement is not in the order of the rainbow. In contrast, the impact of the Magnolia painting demonstrates that what we see in the artwork is most likely what we would see if we saw the actual vase with flowers.

We have discussed the colors, composition, and impact of each painting in this essay. We have also covered some similarities and differences between the two paintings. In your opinion, which painting do you prefer?
