Many people know how to swim freestyle but is it executed properly? The very first stroke swimmers learn is freestyle because it is efficient. When swimming freestyle properly, it can help you be faster and be calmer. Let me tell you one of the basic steps to execute freestyle properly.
First, we will start by stretching your arms and legs. Make sure your legs are straight and close together. Put your arms in front of you to make sure it’s straight.
Second, your head position. You should look down at the bottom of the pool. This can help your hips stay higher in the water. If your head is not down, your hips will drop, and it can make you slower.
Third, grab your arms sideways. When moving your arms, you should do it one at a time. As your hand enters the water first, begin grabbing your arms backward and keep your elbow slightly bent. Make sure your fingertips enter the water first.
Fourth, kick your feet. Your legs should be straight and your knees should be a little bent. Don’t kick at the same time. Your kick should be small and fast. Some people think that kicking bigger will increase their speed, but it’s better if it’s smaller.
Fifth, practice your breathing. It’s very challenging to breathe, especially for people who are beginners. Turn your head to the side. Your other eye and ear should be in the water. Make sure you don’t lift your head because it is harder to keep on moving forward.
These are all the steps you need to know to execute freestyle. Learning the basic steps of freestyle can really help, especially for those people who want to be faster.
